Special Education
Advocacy
Elevate Global Education Group assists parents, guardians, and students with disabilities navigate the complex landscape of special education services, laws, regulations, and procedures.
We work to ensure that students with special needs receive appropriate educational support, accommodations, and services to help them succeed in school.
Here are some key roles and responsibilities of a special education advocate:
Understanding Laws and Regulations
We have a strong understanding of federal and state laws related to special education, such as the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA) in the United States, and how these laws impact the rights and entitlements of students with disabilities.
Navigating the IEP Process
We guide families through the Individualized Education Program (IEP) process, helping them understand the components of an IEP, participate effectively in IEP meetings, and ensure that the plan is tailored to the student's unique needs.
Resolving Disputes
If conflicts arise between parents and schools regarding the provision of appropriate services, advocates may assist in resolving disputes through mediation or due process procedures.
Empowering Parents
One of the primary goals of an advocate is to empower parents to become effective advocates for their child, equipping them with the knowledge and skills they need to navigate the educational system.
Supporting Families
Our advocates work closely with families to provide information, guidance, and emotional support throughout the special education process.
Explaining Rights:
We will educate parents and guardians about their rights and the rights of their child with a disability, the right to an Individualized Education Program (IEP), and the right to related services and accommodations.
Attending Meetings
In some cases, we may attend IEP meetings or other school meetings with families to provide support, ask questions, and ensure that the student's needs are being addressed appropriately.
Collaborating with School Personnel
We work collaboratively with teachers, school administrators, and other professionals to advocate for the best interests of the student and to ensure that the agreed-upon services and accommodations are provided.
Providing Resources
We often provide families with information, resources, and strategies for effectively advocating for their child's needs within the educational system.
Individualizing Support
We recognize that each student's needs are unique, and we work to ensure that the educational plan is individualized to meet those needs effectively.
